We were honoured and grateful as the Minister of Investment Hon. Geofrey Mwambe paid a visit to our factory along side Kigamboni DC. Mh Fatma Nyangasa.
The Minister of Investment Hon. Geofrey Mwambe paying attention to learn about Paper Straws.
Irene Sporah says the future of the environment is always top of mind for her company.
“[Sporah] understood that planet Earth is going toward a no point of return,“[She is] sacrificing many things in her life to create this "RAPOS".”
One of those sacrifices for Sporah was leaving her media career to launch Rapos Paper Straws Company.
Sporah says her clients are mainly restaurants and small franchises, but she hopes to see the company grow.
“We keeps the jobs here in Tanzania,” she says. “And we keep testing our straws to see how we can make them better and better.”
“The most important thing any Tanzanian can do is help the community by choosing the small, local producers,” Irene Sporah Njau added. “We have to understand what we are contributing to.”
During the visit we discussed the current situation on business in Tanzania.
There are tons of paper straws on the market, but they’re coming from China. I’m not saying they are bad, but the problem is that some of them are not TBS approved,” Sporah tells the Minister of Investment Hon. Geofrey Mwambe and DC. Mh Fatma Nyangasa..
After a tour of the factory and a demonstration of how the straws are made, Irene Sporah reminds the Minister of Investment Hon. Geofrey Mwambe DC. Mh Fatma Nyangasa of her main goal – reducing pollution and protecting the environment.
The whole thing is about having less plastic.
